Help Us Clear The Shelters with Overstock.com

by Jenn Brockman

Growing up, animals were always a huge part of our lives. Whether we had dogs, cats, horses, bunnies, or even lizards, there were always animals running around our home. Many of the animals we had were rescued animals from the local shelter. Our parents always taught us how important it was that those animals got a second chance. They weren’t bad dogs or mean cats, they were sweet animals that deserved a loving home like ours. I hear about the Clear the Shelters Campaign and the Overstock.com Initiatives and I had to get involved. I want to share with you some facts about how you can help us Clear the Shelters with Overstock.com and why it’s such a wonderful thing to adopt a shelter pet.

Overstock Adopt

Overstock.com is a great online retail company with a lot to offer. Just like their slogan goes, “we sell cool stuff, to do coolstuff” and that is exactly what they are doing. Overstock.com offers Pet Adoption through their website on their Pet Adoption Page. The site will connect you with shelters in your area and have all the shelter pets displayed for you to find your new family member. The Overstock.com Initiatives and Clear The Shelters Campaign were so successful that almost 18,00 pets were adopted and found homes that are loving and lasting. Overstock.com feels that every life has value and they have decided to use their technology to help save the lives of pets that have been abandoned or become homeless.

Much like humans, pets can hit a rough road and lose the place they call home. Whether a family can no longer care for them, they are lost due to a catastrophe, or unfortunately just dropped of at a shelter, these animals need help regardless of the reason. Thanks to Overstock.com and their technology, over 40,000 pets have found a home. Overstock.com works with shelters all over the nation to help pets and those looking to adopt. You can head to their site at Overstock.com/Overstock-Pets to search for your new family member.

The site is easy to use and the process of adopting a pet is exciting and fun. Many shelters also include spay/neuter costs, first shots, and micro chipping within the adoption fee. Also, there are some shelters that offer a New Pet Starter Kit, full of coupons and samples. Overstock.com also has over 5,00 pet products perfect for your new family member and friend just waiting to be used. Not only does Overstock.com provide a way to adopt, they help to take care of your new pet after you get them to their new, loving, life long home!

Clear The Shelters Campaign and Overstock.com did it again this year and more than 300 shelters across the U.S. signed up to join in. On the national day of action, which took place on August 15, everyone stepped up to take action. By volunteering their time, money, and love, many pets were helped and the needs of all the shelter pets was priority. It is important to spread the word about these kinds of problems and also the Clear The Shelters Campaign and Overstock.com initiatives and Pet Adoption. Knowledge truly is power.

I am in the process of taking a colony of cats to the vet to be neutered, they came with the house I moved into .I have 1 more to take to the vet and then have to find forever homes for 11. I am keeping 4 and my cat is not pleased lol. Shelters are the best place to find a furry family member. I wish more people would consider it.

I couldn’t agree more.. Same here all of our animals have been resuces.. Whether it’s from the shelter, or the streets we only help animals who need homes because they didn’t make the choice to be left behind or whatever their case may be… I am with you.. It is the best place for them to come from.

I just wish I had a bigger place and I would fill it with cats and dogs from our local shelter. I firmly believe in mandatory prison sentences for people who abuse or neglect their pets. In the UK people get let off with a slap on the wrist for the most horrific abuse. Stephen

Stephen, I COULDN’T NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE… Animals should have a voice and people should NOT be able to abuse them in any shape… Laws are getting better here in the US, but nothing like they should be. Some people just don’t think animals have feelings, it’s sick and wrong…

I’m not an animal lover but I don’t like abuse or neglect either. Taking on a pet is serious. I believe in spay and neutering. I also think a shelter pet would be my first choice.

I love all of the pictures you provided! Especially the dog with the hat!!! lol My youngest cat was found outside a friend’s house at 7 weeks old, meowing and hungry. So, I adopted her! I have also volunteered at an animal shelter…and all of the cats and dogs there just wanted to be loved by someone! They never forget that you took them in!!!
