My husband and I have been planning a trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas. It’s not what I would call our dream vacation, but I honestly don’t know that I can think of anywhere else I would rather be than on a vacation with my husband. Arkansas might sound like an odd place to vacation but we both enjoy mother nature, and Arkansas is filled with untouched beauty. Since neither one of us is familiar with the area I’ve been researching all the awesome things to do in the Hot Springs Arkansas area and was pleasantly surprised!
Here are a few of our favorite things to do in the Hot Springs, Arkansas area.
Things To Do In The Host Springs, Arkansas Area
- Visiting the lakes and rivers – I don’t know how one could plan a trip to Hot Springs, AR and not want to visit the lakes and rivers in the area. From Lake Hamilton to the Ouachita River there is defiantly things to do on the water – fishing, rent watercrafts, swim, and just enjoy the view. There isn’t a whole lot more relaxing than being by the water.
- Caves and caverns – My husband and I enjoy visiting the natural wonders of the world, and the Arkansas Ozarks is home to beautiful lakes, rivers, forests, and wilderness and below is limestone caves of the Ozarks. There are also tours you can go on and many other caves you can visit – Blanchard Springs Cavers, Cosmic Caverns and several more.
- Go for a drive – My husband and I always enjoy checking out the scenic routes and the natural beauty wherever we are, and both of us are excited about all the different scenic byways and trails one can travel down around Hot Springs, AR.
- Waterfalls – If you love and appreciate nature than you won’t want to miss out on waterfalls, right! Big or small, they’re beautiful, relaxing, and defiantly worth spending time at. Hot Springs, AR is home to Cedar Falls as well as other natural waterfalls.
- Rock climbing – I am not big on climbing, but my husband, enjoys it, and there is supposed to be some excellent rock climbing by the Ozark and Ouachita mountain ranges.
- Relax and enjoy the wildlife – There are more than 350 species of birds in Arkansas, 150 butterflies, and about 20 animals that are listed on the endangered or threatened species list.
- Visit the Hot Springs Historic District – My husband is a history buff, and I can already tell you we’ll be stopping by to see the Historic District. There are buildings from the late 1800 and early 1900s that are now places likes coffee shops, galleries, shops, and more.
- Magic Springs Water and Theme Park – If we had the kids with us we would likely hit up the Magi Springs Water and Theme Park because well it’s an awesome theme park with more than 80 attractions, one of which includes the Arkansas Twister costar! I don’t ride coasters but my husband does, and I have heard about that coaster several times already lol.
- Zip Lines Adventure – We have already confirmed we’ll be visiting the Zip Lines, of Ouachita Bend, which is located in a rouged area between Hot Springs and the Ouachita Mountains.
- Ice Skating – I have always wanted to, go ice skating, and we’ve been kicking around the ice skating idea since there’s skating in Little Rock, which is less than an hour from Hot Springs. Since we’re planning on being there a week, I think we’ll defiantly head into Little Rock.
- Garvan Woodland Garden’s – This is a 210-acre peninsula located on Lake Hamilton with all sorts of goodies to discover – trails, waterfalls, springs, and more.
- Carriage Ride – OMG, how awesome does a carriage ride sound? It’s only going to be the hubby and me so a carriage ride in Downtown Hot Springs National Park would be AMAZING! You do have to make reservations.
- Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus – Who doesn’t want to see the greatest show on earth. We recently visited the Ringling Elephant Conservation in Florida, and now more than ever want to see their show. I don’t know if they will be in town the same time we are, but a girl can hope, right?
- Go for a horseback ride – There are riding stables in the Hot Springs area with mountain trails and guided trail rides that are offered seasonally.
- Visit the Hot Springs Tower – The Hot Springs Tower is 250 feet above the ground, I’m sure the view is out of this world, and it’s worth visiting.
- Hot Springs National Park – How can anyone visit the Hot Springs area and not visit the Hot Springs National Park for a day of adventure so you can relax in the hot springs. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect way to end an excellent day in the forest?
Do you have a dream vacation? After my husband and I split up several years ago we promised one another that we would get our time. Sure we have not been able to do things here or there, but for the most part, we have date nights and a couple times a year we are able to go out of town, alone, just the two of us and it’s magical every single time. I’m happy wherever the roads takes us – Hot Springs, Hawaii, Colorado, it doesn’t matter I count my blessings each time we are able to travel together.

Hot Springs is such a beautiful place. I flew there the summer of my 8th grade year and stayed all summer with my cousin and her family. I love going to the lakes around Hot Springs and water skiing.
