It’s funny when I was pregnant everyone seemed like they just knew it all. I heard everything about yoga poses that every mom should be aware of. I also listened to the horror stories.  However, there is one thing NOBODY told me about, incontinence and that it would be wise to buy some Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit* Briefs for Women for after the baby is born. You think people would warn you.  I mean I would have loved to have known that I couldn’t jump on a trampoline again, like EVER!

I wish I would have started yoga when my doctor told me I could. I had every intention of it, but, so I just put my focus on my daughter.  It wasn’t until we split up that I started thinking about my health and made myself get back into working out.

This year I have committed to doing more yoga, it’s so relaxing and does so many amazing things to your body, especially if you just had a baby. My husband and I are trying to have one more kid, and I will without a doubt be doing post yoga pregnancy this time.  I learned a valuable lesson last time – What I put off today isn’t going to fix itself tomorrow.

Yoga Poses Every New Mom Should Know

A Few Yoga Poses Every New Mom Should Know

Here are a few yoga poses to get to get you started after you have the baby.  Good luck, and remember slow and steady wins the race!  Oh, and you’ll want to have something for light bladder leakage after the baby is born, especially if you plan on doing.  Well, almost anything. I’ll fill you in toward the end of the post.

Yoga Position Tree PoseTree Pose

The Tree Pose is harder than it looks, trust me lol. It’s great for your spine, ankles, thighs and calves, helps you improve your balance.

  • In a standing position put your arms at your side.
  • Bend your right knee.
  • Place right foot on your left thigh with sole pressed firmly on your thigh. Keep your left leg nice and straight and make sure you have your balance.
  • Take a deep breath, slowly raise your hands from your side up over your head.
  • Keeping your spine straight, bring palms together, and take long deep breaths.  Hold for about 30 seconds.
  • Exhale and slowly bring your hands down to your side and bring your right leg down.
  • You should end in the same standing position you started in so you can repeat this pose with the other leg.

Downward Dog

The Downward Facing Dog pose is probably one you’ve seen several times.  It’s an awesome pose for an all-over stretch.

  • Start on the floor on all fours and hands directly under your shoulders and knees under your hips.
  • Slowly move hands forward and spread your finger open.
  • Press palms into the floor
  • Slowly curl your toes under and press your hips up to the sky.
  • Push your shoulders down, feet hip-width apart, knees bent just a tad.

Triangle Pose

This is excellent for strengthening the core, opening chest and shoulders while stretching your legs, hamstrings, hips, and groins.

  • Extend your arms to the side and out.
  • Bend over right leg, standing with your feet roughly three feet apart.
  • The toes on your right foot need to be 90 turned out, and left will be at about 45 degrees.
  • Let your right hand touch the ground.
  • Extend fingertips way up to the sky.
  • Arms out to sides, then bend over your right leg.
  • Stand with feet about 3 feet apart, toes on your right foot turned out to 90 degrees, left foot to 45 degrees.
  • Allow your right hand to touch the floor or rest on your right leg below or above the knee, and extend the fingertips of your left hand toward the ceiling.
  • Turn your head and look up at the sky and hold for 5 to 10 breaths.
  • Repeat on the other side.

Two-arm right/left bend

  • From a standing position place your feet about hip width apart.
  • Inhale and lift both arms to your sides and bend to the right side as you breathe out.
  • Go back up and repeat on another side.

Corpse Pose

This pose is great at the end of every yoga session.  It helps relax your mind body and soul which of course contributes to getting rid of unnecessary stress.

  • Lay on your back with arms and legs pushed away from the body a bit.
  • Rake slow deep breaths and relax.  Allow your body to become relaxed into the floor.
  • Focus on your breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth.
  • Let your body relax completely.
  • Continue for about 10 minutes.

Meditation

I love meditation. It helps me.  If you have not tried meditation, I highly suggest it.  It’s amazing how good you feel after clearing your mind. I don’t know how to explain it, but if I had to, I would say I feel lighter.   I’m going to have you look this one up because I just recently started meditating.   I’m not sure I can give you enough information on it.  However, I do highly suggest it.  I still can’t believe how light I feel after a short session.

Post pregnancy yoga is an excellent way to help your body recover from pregnancy.  However, be sure to talk to your doctor before starting yoga.  Typically, they require that you avoid strenuous activity for six to eight weeks after your baby is born.

depends on table with work out productsThe most important Post Pregnancy Tip I Have

I know I wish someone would have warned me so I could have been prepared and not thought something was wrong with me for so long.  It took me a bit before I would even ask my mom what was going on, I was honestly worried that something was wrong with me.  Thankfully my mom dished out all the details and reminded me that there are lots of other women who suffer from some form of incontinence after they have their baby.   and not just a few Americans either.  Try OVER  65 million Americans who suffer from some incontinence issues.

Walmart DependsI purchased my sister-n-law a package of Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit* from Walmart.com and took them to her on Sunday.  I knew she needed them because she told me she had forgotten how important they were and she didn’t know when she was going to be able to go to Walmart because my brother was out of town working.  Of course, I have offered to watch my nephew but I also understand my sister-in-law and brother are super protective with the baby and don’t want to leave him with anyone.  They recently lost their seven-year-old son and are still beside themselves.  We’re all deeply saddened and it’s been a difficult road for the two of them.  I totally understand them not wanting to leave the baby alone right now.  Gosh, I can’t imagine what they are going through and there is nothing one can do but just be there for them when they need them because that is what my nephew would have wanted from us, to help care for his mommy and daddy when they need them.

Marley told me that I didn’t have to go to the store just for her but that she appreciated it.  I told her not to worry I didn’t go to Walmart, I actually ordered them from their website because I didn’t have time to go.  Well, those were the final words before Marley went to Walmart.com and ordered a few things she needed.  I didn’t know she had no idea you could buy things like Depend products.  Needless to say, she was pleasantly surprised because now she can jump online and purchase things she needs rather than wait around for my brother to watch Gavin so she can go to the store. I started shopping online, it’s so much easier to head to Walmart.com, pick out what you need and know it will be delivered to you shortly after.  Talk about a huge time saver!

However, there is one thing NOBODY told me about, incontinence and that it would be wise to buy some Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit* Briefs for Women for after the baby was born.

Depend on® Silhouette® Active Fit* showcase the lower rise thin design so they are super comfy and nobody knows you are wearing them.  Whether you’re planning on heading to the gym or going for a run Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit* will help save you front those confident moments when incontinence gets the bet of you.  Which can happen when you giggle, slip, yell, and other reasons and it’s okay because you’re using Depend on® Silhouette® Active Fit*.

Okay, so my pregnancy tip is to purchase Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit* Briefs for Women which you can grab from Walmart.com!  Not only is shopping online with Walmart easy, but you’ll save yourself some time and shopping won’t be such a chore.
