Family Vacation Ideas + Giveaway

by Jenn

I don’t know about you, but I’m excited for the kids to get out of school. I love them being home with me and I love that we can take family vacations together. However, this year my husband and I have been struggling with family vacation ideas so I thought I’d share a few family vacation ideas that we are kicking around for the upcoming summer.

  • Legoland – I honestly don’t know what to expect from here, I have heard great things, but we have never been. However, I’m not going to doubt that my kids would have a lot of fun. Plus there is a LegoLand Discovery Center in Dallas/Fort Worth which isn’t too bad of a drive for us. Oh, yes we have to drive because my son is handicap and is scared to fly. Which I honestly don’t bother us at all. We enjoy our family road trips.
  • Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad – There is nothing like Durango Colorado in the summer, it’s so much cooler there. It’s perfect, and the train is excellent. I remember going on it when I was a child, and I love it. The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad takes you on a 2ft narrow gauge heritage railroad. The train will take you a little over 40 miles between Durango and Silverton; it’s an excellent ride.
  • Nickelodeon Family Suites – This is a resort in Orlando Florida that is super fun! It’s a themed resort with pools and slides. There is even a huge water tower that includes all sorts of fun water and poolside games. It’s four stories of fun, and you are in Orlando so there is plenty more to do if you can get the kids out of the pool.
  • Camping – Honestly, it doesn’t matter where you go camping it’s always a great way to spend time with the family.

Family Vacation Ideas

  • Disney World/Land – Of course this is always a must see and we have been waiting for my youngest daughter to get old enough o enjoy and halfway remember a trip to Florida to visit Mickey Mouse and friends. There are tons to do, places to stay and traveling to and from the park is super easy if you stay with certain hotels by the park.
  • Yellowstone – Everyone loves Yellowstone! It’s the perfect place to take the kids and enjoy the great outdoors, and you can camp out if you’d like. There is plenty to do in Yellowstone if you love the be outdoors as we do.
  • Grand Canyon – OMG, I love the Grand Canyon. I remember visiting when I was younger with my aunt, I was amazed and wanted to ride a mule down into the canyon until I got there and realized just how far down the canyon is and how little the path is that the mules walk on. Maybe I’d be braver now that I’m an adult, but now that I think about it I don’t think I would.
  • Washington DC – Educational and super fun! There is plenty of kid friendly stuff to do and learn in Washington DC – museums, monuments and more. It’s a great way to spend time with the family and sneak in a little history and maybe a trip to the zoo.
  • Ocean City – This is an excellent place for any vacation, but the coolest thing about Ocean City, in my opinion, is Assateague Island National Park. See it’s an island that stretches to Virginia and is known for the herds of wild horses that have taken over the island. They are said to have sure visited a Spanish shipwreck from centuries ago. It’s worth seeing.

Whether you are traveling by plane, train or automobile you’re not going to want to forget the snacks, drinks, and other items to keep the kids busy while you are traveling. I recently tried SurfSweets Brand snacks and OMG talk about fantastic! They are going to make the best traveling snack, I’m serious, they are great. However, I was lucky to get even the few that I did because my youngest daughter got into them before I made it home. She’s my picky eater who has to try everything, and she loved SurfSweets too.

handMy daughter told me her favorite was the gummy bears and worms; I wouldn’t know because this handful of jelly beans is all she left me, but they were still awesome and tasted so much better than any other jelly bean I have ever eaten.  I have to go to Target in the morning, I’m defiently going to be picking up more SurftSweets Treats and NOT sharing them with Mattie lol.

gummy bearsSurfSweets Brand is excellent, and they are NOT just for kids, trust me on this. The kids will be lucky if mom decides to share the SuftSweets with them. They are made with organic sweeteners, organic fruit juice, and not only taste better but are also a smarter way to snack. See they are FREE of corn syrup and use those organic ingredients to help reduce your exposure to those yucky chemical fertilizers and pesticides, contain no artificial colors or flavors, free of chemical dyes that have been linked to hyperactivity disorders, are allergy friendly since they are produced and packaged in a facticity that is free from the common 8 allergies, peanut tree nut and gluten free.

SurfSweets are not only safer for you and maybe the kids if you decide to share, but they are also safer for the environment. Plus, they are proudly made right here in the United States of America! SuftSweets supports environmental causes that help keep our beautiful oceans clean as a member of the 1% for the Planet.

Wondering where you can grab SurfSweets treats? I know I’ll sure be trying them again and lucky for us we can find them at our local Target stores. To make things even better you can save money with this coupon.

I’d want my family to go to Ireland but I wouldn’t take any snacks. I’d want to embrace the culture as much as possible.

Best camping trip ever and one we would love to replicate is to fly out to San Francisco with all our camp gear from Florida.
Tour San Francisco and local area including half moon bay..camping Pacific Ocean front..then off up the coast along the coastal road north..then over to Tahoe and Yosemite and back to San Francisco!
