Being a working mom with a time-consuming hobby makes keeping in contact with friends and family difficult. When I get home, the last thing I want to do is jump on the phone for an hour and chat with my sister but I’m always down for a game of Words with Friends 2. It sounds harsh; I know, but it’s the truth, talking on the phone for an hour isn’t something I enjoy. I want to come home cook dinner, jump in the shower and relax as long as possible before heading off to bed. I know many of my loved ones feel the same way so if we don’t put real effort into staying in contact before we know it 6 months is gone without any contact.
Quick, Easy & Fun Ways To Keep In Contact With Family & Friends
I’ve found that keeping in contact with family and friends doesn’t have to be difficult or something I dread, I just needed to rethink how I was keeping in contact with everyone. Here are a few great, and even fun ways I’ve found to keep in contact with my family and friends.
Social Media
Social Media is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends. You can jump online, say hi, see how things are and never have to pick up the phone for a long drawn out conversation. You can chat while you are cooking dinner, which makes it easy, effective and lets your friends and family know you are thinking about them. It also gives you the opportunity to view their profile and see any new photos and sort of keep up with what is happening in their lives.
FaceTime or Skype
Video calls are great because you get a feeling of togetherness regardless of the space between you. I’ve found FaceTime or Skype to be great for holidays when you are away from friends and family.
Text Messages
Text messages work a lot likes social media sites, but you don’t have to option to view their profile and see pictures or recent updates. Regardless they are a great way to let family and friends know you care and are thinking about them.
Several years ago a friend of mine invited me to play Words with Friends and we’ve been keeping in contact almost daily since. Regardless of our busy lifestyles, we almost always have a game going. The game might take a few hours to finish or it could drag on for a few days depending on our schedule, but mostly we have stayed in constant contact since we played. Oh, and not to worry you can even chat with your Words with Friends buddies while playing too. I’ve also played with my sister and mom. It’s been a great way to keep in contact and have a little fun doing so. My sister and I have tried to play a word theme game. If we are both cooking dinner, we will try to find words to help each other guess what we are cooking, it’s a great way to have fun while cooking dinner, keep in contact with loved ones and keep your brain thinking.
If you are not familiar with Words with Friends you are missing out, since the release of Words with Friends 2. You can challenge anyone to a game of Words with Friends 2, challenge Facebook friends and family members. I’ve been having a blast playing and even upping my game by playing fictional characters, called WordMasters in the NEW Solo Challenge event. It’s giving me a nice boost to my word game and makes playing even more fun. As you move up the ladder the WordMasters will get more difficult to beat.
Oh, and the NEW Lightning Round, a fast-paced team match is awesome to test your speed and word building skills. You’ll play on a team of up to 5 players and face off in a match to score the most points first and win!
Playing Words with Friends has also helped me expand my vocabulary, especially playing with my younger sister. To be honest, I never kept track of the score of each word I used, until recently thanks to my wonderful sister. Who may I add is the word queen of the family. One day I’ll get her, I’ve been brushing up on my word skills with Words with Friends 2, thanks to their WordMasters I’m determined to stump her one day, lol.
Over the years I’ve learned sometimes staying in touch, showing you care or having a good laugh is as simple as playing the perfect word. Word with Friends 2 updated their dictionary, it includes 50,000 new words that are inspired by players and pop culture. So playing that perfect word shouldn’t be too difficult.
