Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone could get together during the holidays? We always do our best to get everyone together, but it always fails someone can’t make it for some reason. Can you believe that this year it was my family? On the day we were supposed to leave, a huge snowstorm rolled in and dumped almost 2 feet of snow on the ground. This year, Mother Nature wanted us to stay put and I’m not about to argue with that much snow on the ground, especially with my kids in the car.
Can you believe the kids are already on their Christmas break? Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday the kids were excited about going back to school, I was thinking, and Vayda was glowing because she got a new smartphone to start the year out on the right foot. I wanted to give her something I knew would motivate her. I’ve tried all sorts of different ways to keep kids motivated to learn in school. Having something to work for has helped Vayda find motivation and find a part of her she didn’t know was there. She is working hard and doing fabulous. I was excited to get everyone out of town for the holidays but not nearly as excited as Vayda. As soon as Christmas break started, she and her cousins were on the phone making plans for their trip to grandmas and grandpas house. Thank goodness for unlimited talk with , lol.
Reasons I’m Glad My Daughter Has a Smartphone
Vayda and I both love her smartphone and wireless provider, probably for different reasons that don’t matter as long as we are both happy.
- Talk as much as you like without going over – Unlimited minutes means Vayda can talk to her cousins over the Christmas break to make plans, chat or just because you’re bored.
- No contract – Yepie, I love not having a contract for Vayda’s phone. I hope I never have to take it from her, but it does feel good knowing I have control.
- Just a tip if you are considering a phone for your child – DON’T GO WITH A CONTRACT! When Catie got her first phone, I didn’t think things through and got her a phone with a two-year contract. She got into a lot of trouble and her father, and I took her phone away for over a year. I will never sign another contract for one of my kid’s phones again. Their phone is the last thing they want to be taken away when they are in trouble, and it’s the first thing I take when they are in trouble, lol.
- Learning – Vayda and I both enjoy so many of the educational apps that have helped her with math this year. There are times when I try to help Vayda, but I can tell she doesn’t understand the way I am explaining it to her, so we do the next best thing and pull up an app that helps her when I’m only confusing her.
- You’ll need apps for your new phone right – Great because there are TONS of great apps you can download to your phone.
- Save money with Total Wireless– You’ll find a variety of individual and family plans at starting at only $35 a month. I have four children, a farm of animals and I’m always on the hunt for painless tips to help you cut expenses.
- If my kids need me they can call me – I can get in touch with my daughter if I need to. It’s not often she isn’t with me, but there are times when I let her walk home from school, go with her sister to the park, go to friends or family houses, and we are starting to allow her to stay home by herself while I run to the store to grab milk or something. I sleep better knowing my kids can get in touch with me if they need to.
- Stay organized – Vayda has started using her phone to keep up with her nightly homework and chores at home, so she schedules everything in her calendar. I have not had to get on to her about feeding the dogs in months. She also used her calendar to track the days until we went to see grandma and grandpa.
I’m sure I could come up with tons more reasons we like having our phone with Total Wireless but what it all boils down to is reliable service, without a contract at an affordable rate and Total Wireless hasn’t let us down.
Having a smartphone is a necessity for many of us. I use mine for everything from staying organized in my personal life to keeping up with emails and working on the go. When it comes to my children I want them to be able to reach me any time, they need me. Vayda is getting older, and we are starting to let her stay by herself for a few minutes while we run to get milk and things like that, so she needs a phone. She also goes for walks around the block, and she goes with her sister to the park down across the way, and I feel better knowing we can reach one another if needed.
Our mobile phones often make things a little easier, help us stay organized, offer peace of mind while your loved ones are out or even reduce stress levels and so many wireless networks are recommending so many products and services that we don’t even need. Shouldn’t it be simple so we don’t have to worry about being oversold? Whether you are working full-time, a stay-at-home mom/dad or attending school, don’t be over sold, checking out Total Wireless is an excellent option in my opinion. They have been good to us; I don’t have any complaints so far. I didn’t have to sign a contract, it’s affordable, has unlimited talk and text, offers affordable phones from trusted brands, customizes by adding data, an individual plan or bring over all my families phones too, and joining the Total Wireless gang is as easy as 1-2-3.

Great points, thanks for sharing!
I started both my kid out with prepaid phones at 12 yrs old. They used them for emergencies only and by time they were 14, they were both ready to go up to texting and using it for media purposes on a limited basis.
I also wanted to say thank you for the information about Total Wireless. I’ve been looking for a cheap way to get my cell phone service back. Thanks for the idea!
First of all, I love your daughter’s name. It is so unique! As for the content of the article, I agree with you on all points. A smartphone can be a great tool for many things, from keeping your schedule to learning new things.
Of course a phone is an essential item everyone should own nowadays. Its convenience assists us in multiple occasions. I don’t have a daughter but a mom to worry about since we live far from each other. Thanks to the phone, I can call or text her every day.
I think you can give your child a phone but I don’t think I would get them a smart one and I like the idea of having no contract.
