I am so excited for Thanksgiving! Yepie, it’s going to be nice to have all the family here, and I am looking forward to cooking all that yummy food! It has already been an amazing Thanksgiving, and it hasn’t even fully began. We have two new pitbull puppies who are thankful for a new home, lots of love, and plenty of Holistic Select dog food.
Most of you know I love animals, and probably have too many, but they do not go unloved or underappreciated by any means. We have rescued all of our dogs in some way.
Skittles is the old man of the house! I rescued him about 11 years ago. It wasn’t a rescue because I stole him, but only because he was going to die. He was bones, and nobody cared, he was just a replaceable dog, who didn’t have feelings or something. I can’t stand to see an animal hurting, so while my friend was inside this house, I ran around the corner, called the little puppy, and put him in my sweater. When I was finally able to get him to the vet my new little friend, this sweet little brown and white pitbull at 4 weeks old had worms so bad the vet said he was very lucky he came in when he did. I will never forget his poor little face; he looked so lonely and sad, like he just wanted someone to love him. Here we are 11 years later, and he’s still my bestie! I love Skittles more than I can put into words.
Thankful for Our New Pitbull Puppies & Loving Holistic Select®
I honestly don’t know how people can let animals become homeless. While I don’t know what happened with these puppies, I do know they were on the streets long enough to be starving. I’m thankful Vayda took the trash out when she did, because we have two amazing new members of the family who probably wouldn’t have made it another night alone. I am thankful everything worked out the way it did. I know that the puppies are grateful to have a warm place to sleep, people to love them, and they love the kids. Animals can teach us so many things if we are open-minded and willing to learn from them too.
My daughter Vayda found two little puppies looking for food when she was taking the trash out.
They super friendly but so skinny; the little boy is black, and we named him Joey. He was by far in better shape than his sister, which I haven’t named yet because there is a perfect name out there I just have to wait for it to come to me. The female puppy is white with black spots and reminded me of Skittles when he was little. Both are pitbulls who are similar in color, one has brown spots the other has black, but it was her face that took me back to that day I grabbed Skittles.
Both of the puppies are super sweet, not scared, and I don’t know how long they had been out on the streets alone. It had to be for a bit because they were so skinny, and the female wasn’t doing well at all. At first, I thought maybe she had parvo because she wouldn’t eat or drink, but thank goodness she didn’t. I don’t think she would have lasted another day on the streets. I honestly didn’t know that she was going to make it. Poor girl was too weak to walk, and when she did it looked like she was going to collapse any minute, and she just looked tired. The part that worried me was that she wouldn’t drink anything or eat anything. My oldest daughter and I did the best we could to get water down, but it was difficult, and it was hard to watch her try to fight because she was so weak. Catie and I decided to put her down by the bowl of water and decided to reconsider our plan.
Then the coolest thing happened! I have honestly never seen anything like it. The female pup is just sitting there looking at the water, it was heart breaking we just wanted her to drink water so she didn’t get dehydrated. Her brother, Joey was sitting on the bed looking at her, you could tell he was worried about her. He jumped off the bed, went and set down next to her for a few seconds, looked at her and put his head down like he was going to drink and looked at her like he was asking her to please take a drink. It made me want to cry because you could tell these two were close, he knew she was sick, and wanted her to be okay. She did it too, she took a drink! It wasn’t a huge drink, but definitely was more water than we got in her by fighting. I added DripDrops to the pups water because it’s supposed to help the body recover from dehydration.
Her first drink of water was her turning point, but we still had one more hill to climb, because she didn’t want to eat! I tried some canned dog food, hard dog food, tuna and anything else I could find. I would have pulled out a steak and cooked it for her at this point, and I was considering making something for her. Oh, I even scrambled her an egg, which I thought was going to work.. She would only take one bite of the eggs, but then I thought I heard my bunny behind the trashcan. When I went to grab BunBun, I saw the girl puppy eating Skittles’ food. Finally, she was eating, and her and her brother have shared the dog food I received from Holistic Select! Which is an amazing dogfood!
The pups are doing great; we have had them four days today, and I look at Joey and cannot believe how amazing he looks. The female puppy is looking better, is getting up and around, and even playing a bit. I can’t even begin to tell you how incredible these two little pups are doing.
In only 4 days ago, Joey’s coat looks fabulous and shiny, he has plenty of energy, plays with the kids, doesn’t pass the dogfood bowl in the kitchen without stopping for at least a few pieces of the Holistic Select hard dog food, lol. He’s a little piggy, but he is happy, healthy, and alive! His sis is looking better as well, she is putting on weight, coats looking better daily, and she’s finally up and around. She is eating Holistic Select food too! Gosh, I am extremely impressed with Holistic Select products! Not only do the pups look and feel better, Skittles has played with them, and he is getting up and around more. I don’t know if he’s feeling good from the food or just jealous, lol. So I am TOTALLY loving Holistic Select®.
Oh, and I honestly thought the dogs were going to have the runs once they started eating again. Everyone warned me, because they know I have a weak stomach and are trying to help me out, lol. Well, the good news is they didn’t have any runs, everything was just as it should, which is yet another reason to love Holistic Select Dog Food! Here, let me just give you the rundown!
This is Joey today going on his first walk. He looks AMAZING; spirits are high, goofy as ever, and thanks to Holistic Select Dog Food, he’s putting on weight and becoming more and more healthy! I honestly cannot get over how well he has bounced back from everything. Not only is he gaining weight and has a shiny coat, he has tons of energy, he plays with the kids, wags his tail, chases the cats, gets chased by the ducks, and the bunny, but he never stops wagging his tail or eating.
I LOVE Holistic Select® products. It’s all I have fed the pups for four days, and Skittles has eaten on it for a week or so. I don’t know what makes it taste better in than the other canned dog food I tried to feed the pup, but apparently she liked it because she hasn’t stopped eating it. She still doesn’t eat as much as her brother Joey, but I honestly don’t know many grown dogs that can eat as much as him. He has been here for almost four whole days, and I don’t think he has stopped looking for something to eat since he has been here, lol. On the other side, Holistic Select® has helped him gain enough weight back that he doesn’t look like he was nothing but bones, and his coat is super shiny. I honestly can’t believe how awesome he is doing!
His sister is doing loads better too, but it’s taking her a little longer to bounce back. I think if they slept outside one more night, she would not have made it. The first two days were hard for her, third was better, and today she’s defiantly putting on weight, getting lots of energy back, and even beating up her brother. I know she’s feeling better and don’t blame her one bit for beating up her brother. He’s a loving brother, but WOW he’s super-duper durpy, and she is very proper, but at the end of the day you can tell the two of them love one another and have been through a lot together.
After seeing how well these puppies bounced back from eating Holistic Select canned and dry dog food I have to say I love the stuff! I do certainly recommend it and will continue to feeding my dogs the Holistic Select brand.
