Here are a few weight loss tips that help me when I’m craving sweets.

Be prepared – Before starting your weight loss plan, think about road blocks that might come up.  If you thinking craving sweets is going to be issues, then research ways to handle craving sweets while dieting.  Same thing goes for any other roadblocks you’re worried about.

Understanding who is in control of the outcome – Be strong and know that you are in control of the outcome.  You can choose to stick with your weight loss plan or allow the unhealthy habits to control you.  Remember you control the outcome.

Drink water and stay hydrated – Staying hydrated is a huge part of being healthy, but it’s also an excellent tool.  Drink a glass of water before each meal, and the next time you being craving sweets, reach for a glass of water.  Drinking a glass of water can help your body and mind to think long and hard about that candy bar.  Chances are if you can make it to this point the craving will pass in a few minutes.

Monitor sweets, salt, and calories – Sometimes seeing things in black and white can be a real eye-opener, especially if you’re focused on weight loss and your health.  There will be times you crave sugar. To better understand why your body craves sugar I suggest reading the article Why Do I Crave Sugar.

Only buy healthy food  – Start being healthy by shopping the healthy.  If you don’t have unhealthy food in your home you’re less likely to eat it.  If you have to leave your house for something sweet, hopefully, the drive will give you enough time to think about things.

Eat several times a day – Naturally if you’re trying to lose weight you ant to eat several small meals a day.. DON’T SKIP MEALS, if you eat several small meals a day you should feel satisfied which will make is easier to stay away from sweets.

Eat a balanced meal – Just because you eat several small meals a day doesn’t mean you’re giving your body everything it needs.  Be sure you’re eating a healthy and balanced meal.

If your body keeps craving sweets try fruit – They say if your body is craving something it’s because it needs it.  Well, sorry your body doesn’t need a king sized Snickers, but it might need an orange, grape, apple, or another fruit with natural sugar.

Workout daily – Be sure and exercise.  Even if it’s something small it will actually help you feel better and might just be that extra bit of strength you need for the day.

Get up and do something – When you start to think, you’re craving sweets get up and do something.  Whether it’s laundry or fixing your hear, get your booty up for a bit.

Get enough sleep – GET SLEEP! Yes, if you follow me you likely know sleep is something I struggle with.  I have so many things going on, and I’m not sleep that I end up doing more harm that good.

Keep Gum – I have found tasty flavored sugar-free gum to helps when I’m craving sweets.  I try to always keep a package of my favorite sugar-free gum on hand, which taste like something sweet like Juicy Fruit® with Starburst® gum. targetMy sister, Mattie and I went to Target the other day and found some Juicy Fruit® gun with Starburst® flavors.  It’s almost too good to be true, and yes it taste as good as it sounds.

My sister and daughter were in charge of taking the picture of themselves at Target while they were buying the Juicy Fruit® with Starburst® gum lol.  I should have known better that’s them in the mirror snapping a shot of themselves at the checkout line, lol.  Crazy girls, but the Juicy Fruit® with Starburst® gum is pretty fabulous!
