Have you been asking yourself if you are ready for a baby?  I honestly don’t know if there is a right or wrong answer.  Of course you want everything to be perfect, but life will never be 100% perfect.  Rather than sitting here and telling you that you should have a career, goals, and your life figured out I’m going to share a few things I caught myself doing when before my husband and I decided to have our little Mattie.

10 Things I Did That Let Me Know I Was Ready for a Baby

See I was always one of those girls who said she wasn’t going to have children so once I caught myself looking, doing and feeling certain things I was finally ready for a child.  Of course. you may do and feel different things and if that’s the case leave us a comment and let us know what things you did or felt when you realized you wanted to be a parent.

1.) Eyeballing strollers when you go to the store – You catch yourself eyeballing the strollers when you visit the store.  You might even have a few you like picked out, but you keep it to yourself.

2.) WHAT, I had fun at that baby shower? – Suddenly those baby showers are not so boring, and you might even try to win the games to test your mom skills.

3.) Baby clothing is cute – You stop and check out all the baby isle, and read all the cute sayings on the onesies.

4.) Thinking about baby names you like – You catch yourself thinking about what you would name a baby if you had one.

5.) Find yourself wondering  – You catch yourself looking at someone’s baby and wondering what your child would look and act like.

6.) Start talking babies to see what your spouse thinks  – I did this because I was always saying I didn’t want a child.  So I did a lot of hinting or talking to see how he would feel before I dropped the bomb, lol.

7.) You catch yourself saying hi and making crazy faces  – When you are in line at the grocery store or having dinner you might find yourself waving, saying hi, or even making crazy faces to a baby across the way to see them smile!

8.) You can’t help but click – When you are online, and you see a story about pregnancy you can’t help but click on it.  You want to know all everything about being pregnant.

9.) Asking friends with kids – You start asking your friends with kids what it’s like to be a parent and want to be around their children more because they are fun to play with.

10.) You meet a baby for the first time – I remember meeting my nephew for the very first time.  I remember thinking how much I loved that little boy, and I didn’t’ know him.  I remember looking at how happy and proud my brother and sister-n-law were and wondering what that feeling was like.  I love this baby so much as his aunt; I wanted to know what it felt like to have a child of my own.

When my husband and I married I gained three children, who are amazing, and I love very much but I didn’t get to be with them from the very start, and I wanted to see how that felt.  That was the very moment I knew I was ready to have a baby of my own.   Thankfully my husband felt the same way, and we now have four beautiful children and are even planning another!

I have been ready for a baby since I was 26! I was even ready before that, but I had always planned to become pregnant by the time I was 26. However, that time has come and gone a long time ago. Knowing now that I probably will never have a child, I am becoming ok with it. But, I have my nephew…who is the best thing in my life!!! Also, I have a nephew on the way! So, I don’t have my own family, but I have a pseudo-family!!!
