Are you ready to get back to school? That is a question that can’t really be answered with a simple “yes” or “no.” There is really a widely varying opinion on going back to school. We, as adults, are pretty excited to get the kids back to school and return to our usual routine. Summers are crazy, and our schedules aren’t very consistent, so restarting our daily routine is a breath of fresh air. The kids, on the other hand, may not be as compliant with school starting up again. Getting up early, going to school all day, having to do homework, and then going to be early. It doesn’t compare with the fun of summer, but it’s something we all have to do. Thankfully, there are ways to get your little ones more excited to get back to school. These 5 tips to get kids excited for back-to-school will definitely take some of the stress off you and your kids. So, grab a pen and pad and take some notes; these are sure to be helpful!
1.) Back To School Fashion Show
Waiting for the clothes to arrive from Justice was hard for Vayda, but she didn’t fret long. Her back to school clothes arrived and she was super pumped. Well, school isn’t starting for a few weeks and she was eyeing those clothes like Christmas presents.
I decided to not only let her try them on, but went one step further. I told her she should model them and put on a little fashion show with all the outfits she got. She mixed and matched all the different “girl power” clothes and her cute blinged shoes fit comfortably for her and matched every outfit creation. The excitement exuded from her and her smile couldn’t have been bigger or brighter. The clothes fit perfectly, the shoes matched everything, she looked beautiful, and now she can’t wait to show off her new threads at school.
Shopping online for clothes from Justice was a great idea because she will be the only one wearing the outfits we got for her. They do have a store locator available if you want to head over and shop directly. Vayda has to wear her uniform to school, but with the back to school trends from Justice, like “floral girl power” we were able to find a great scarf to accessorize and make her uniform personalized. Even staying with her uniform requirements, there were so many options to choose from. Skirts of different kinds and all sorts of pants to choose from made shopping online for Justice clothing with her a lot of fun for both of us. The prices made me feel relieved because of how friendly and affordable everything is.
Delivery time was phenomenal because Vayda was so excited and the gift wrapped boxes with her new clothes made it on time. She definitely isn’t too worried about school or homework or getting up early now. She is excited to show how much she has changed over the summer and the great wardrobe from Justice that she has now.
2.) Play Dates & Parties
Depending on what your kids participated in this summer, they likely didn’t see a lot of their classmates. Once school is near and on the horizon, it is time to start planning. Reach out to their classmates from the previous year that they were friends with. Invite them to a “Back-to-School Party” for the weekend before or after the initial week of school.

It gives them all the chance to catch up on summer and to have one last “hoorah” before their weeks become filled with school and homework. Your kids will be reminded of all the fun they had last school year and they’ll be excited for another new year of fun with their friends.
3.) Head to School Early
I don’t mean go to school an hour before the class starts. What I mean is to head there a week early. This tip helps our kids and us adults to get back into the swing of things. If your school is within walking distance, take a stroll or a bike ride each morning with your kid every day during the week before school starts. This gives your kids something to look forward to and chances are the staff will be there setting up their classrooms.
It’s a great opportunity for you and your kids to get to know their teacher and other staff members ahead of time. It also helps to get them back on their school schedule and a little bit of early morning exercise does everyone some good too!
4.) Amass Back-To-School Snacks
Our kids go with us to the grocery store almost every single time. And much like our children, I’m sure yours also beg for candies, toys or whatever else is at eye level. Well, use their avid desire to your advantage. Next time you head to the grocery store, shop for school lunch item and after school snacks.
Let them have a say on what to purchase and get them involved in the shopping. Remind them though that they have to wait until school starts. It is a little torturous, but adds to the excitement of going back to school. They’ll be looking forward to indulging in those yummy foods. Remember, you CAN’T give in or else you’ll have to stock up all over again!
5.) Sign Up For After School Activities
Kids can get overwhelmed with school starting up. It can really become a bummer when they think about tests and homework. So, sign them up for an after-school activity.
Extra-curricular activities like sports or dance increase physical activity and improve social interactions. And, they’re just plain fun. Instead of worrying about school work so much they will have their other activities on their minds.
Heading back to school isn’t always the most positive time of year, but we can fix that. Kids don’t have to focus on the down sides of going back to school, like waking up early or having to do homework. With these few tips, they have other things to look forward to. Parties remind them of all the great friends they have and the new ones they’ll make. School snacks always seem to grab a kid’s attention too. And, shopping online at Justice.com and getting the Justice line of back to school clothes for my niece drew her focus to the fun parts of getting back to class. Let’s get up, get prepared, get dressed, and get back to school!
We made a fun video with Vayda and her new clothes, check it out on YouTube!
