Do you currently use your credit card when you leave the house, shop online, or travel? I most certainly do because it saves me time, offers me security, a peace of mind, and fabulous money saving benefits while I am at home or traveling with the family. If you’ve been kicking around building credit or looking for reasons it pays to use a credit card for traveling, here are few reasons to consider.
Reasons It Pays To Use Your Credit Card for Traveling
Here are a few reasons we like to use our credit card when we travel:
Protecting my loved ones
Traveling with only cash is too risky in my opinion and a credit card is a great way to have money to spend on your trip without the risk of carrying cash. Let’s face it, in today’s world it isn’t safe to carry cash, especially while you are traveling. If for some reason your car is broken into or your handbag is stolen, there is nothing you can do to get your cash back, but your credit card company can shut down your credit card the moment you notify them something is wrong. They can also track any spending done on it while it wasn’t in your possession whether you are at home or on the road.
Accounting is easy on the go
I haven’t carried cash in years because my Chase credit card makes it easy for me to make purchases and see where I’m spending my money on my credit card statement while I am on the go.
I love those reward points
I can’t even tell you everything I’ve received due to credit card rewards – travel, experiences, cash, gift cards, and more.
Save money on travel
One of my favorite things to use my Chase Ultimate Rewards for is to save money on travel. Whether it’s a gift card to help pay for expenses, experiences, or cash to pay my credit card bill, I’m one happy traveler because I’m saving money while enjoying everything that comes along with traveling. Which yes, helps my husband and I avoid financial stress while on vacation.
Chase Ultimate Rewards commissioned a nationwide survey to help uncover how women and men interpret their travel roles and goals differently than their partners. The survey is loaded with some rather interesting information, such as:
- The survey suggests that eight out of every ten couples plan their vacation together, but it also suggests that both men and women don’t understand what their significant looks for in a vacation. When you think about it, more couples are traveling in 2015, and many are out of sync.
- The romantic needs of women are being overestimated by men since almost half (46%) think “romantic” describes their partner’s perfect vacation. While only 36% of women and 39% of men describe their dream vacation as a romantic vacation.
- I also found it interesting that both women and men quickly say their partner is the person who tends to spend the most money. When I honestly think about it, I’m sure my husband would say that about me, and I would label him as the spender lol. Oh and what about the 58% of women who think they make the decision to get the best bang for their buck when they travel, but only 8% of men and 6% of women believe that this is true about their partner?
- I love that 47% of women think they are the ones who develop the vacation itinerary, but 57% of men believe it is a joint effort.
While I giggle a little at the results, it’s not funny because this means couples are crossing wires while on their vacations. Which in my opinion, means they are not getting everything they could out of their vacation, especially considering that 76% of couples said a relaxing vacation was perfect, yet 37% of couples who disagree while on vacation think their partner spends too much time on technology and 41% have concerns about money being spent.
However, data suggest that two-thirds of couples often pay for a vacation with travel related rewards or points and 68% of couples often or always looking for opportunities to use their rewards or points to save money. Myself included! Thankfully Chase Ultimate Rewards provides travel content, in-depth guides for destinations, hotel, restaurant, and activity recommendations to help summer travelers better plan their dream trips.
Check out the survey results for yourself below. There is some rather interesting information and you never know, maybe it can help you and your partner get in sync when it comes to traveling. I know it opened my eyes to a lot of things my husband and I likely do.
In my opinion it pays to use your credit card while traveling because you’re not only protecting yourself, but also giving yourself that much needed piece of mind, and what’s not to love about those reward points programs like Chase Ultimate Rewards.
