It’s that time of year if you’re throwing a holiday party things can get stressful, but they don’t have to. Here are a few tips to help you host a wonderful holiday party without the stress that often comes along with it.
This year Christmas is extra special too! I recently learned that this year we will have a full moon on Christmas! Yes we sure will and it is the first one since 1977 and we will not have another one until 2034! All the more reason to say no to holiday stress and yes to having a little extra fun at your holiday gatherings right! Whether you’re having a few friends over for girl’s night or throwing a great Christmas party with family and friends, you’ll need a few fun Christmas party game ideas, right? Great, here are a few of our favorite Christmas party games to get you started.
Christmas Party Game Ideas
- Cookie Decorating Contest – You can do anything from Santa cookie to a snowman cookie, just make sure they are baked in the shape you want before your guests arrive. You can give everyone a cookie, explain the rules and let them decorate their cookies. Whoever finished 1st and has the nicest decorated cookie wins everyone’s cookies lol. It’s fun, but I do
suggest picking someone else to be the judge haha. - Pin the nose on Rudolph – It’s just like Pin the Tail on the Donkey but with Rudolph and a glowing red nose.
- Christmas Karaoke – OMG, this is one of my favorites and it’s honestly amazing how many Christmas songs I think I know that I don’t lol. It’s just a whole lot of fun to see how many Christmas songs you know all the words too lol.
- Hot gift – Just like hot potatoes but with a gift. Pass the gift around the room until the music stops whoever ends up with the gift is out of the game. Repeat until the winner is left with an excellent gift nobody else gets lol.
- Guess the ornament – This is a fun game where guests will guess how many ornaments you have on the Christmas tree when they walk into the house. Be sure to count the ornaments when you put the tree up.
- Christmas Charades – Don’t you love playing charades any time of the year? I sure do, and Christmas Charades is a great way to loosen everyone up for the evening.
- Christmas Trivia – How much do you know about the holiday? You’ll need to prepare the game before the party. You can make the questions as easy or complicated as you like or you can split it up with a few friends who will be coming, so there are a few questions you don’t know the answer too lol. It’s still fun to listen to everyone.
- Hang the ornament – This is super fun. Pair everyone up, give them a few ornaments, and time them while they put as many ornaments on the tree without using their hands and they have to do it together. Most pairs use their mouth; one person pushes lips against ornament on one side, and the other does the same thing on the other side. You can give everyone 3 minutes or whatever you feel is a good time limit. Whoever puts up the most wins.
- Do the penguin waddle – Put a balloon between your legs and waddle like a penguin to the finish line whoever has the best time wins. If you drink you could also have some fun playing drinking games!
