Light Bladder Leakage Myths | Seize Your Poise Moment

by Jenn Brockman

There are so many light bladder leakage myths out there.  You know, that’s one thing I love about my job – the things I learn from doing research for a  blog post.  To be honest with you, I’d probably still be clueless about light bladder leakage but thankfully because of my relationship with Poise I’ve learned so much.  Before educating myself another child was out of the question, I had a terrible experience with light bladder leakage because nobody wants to talk about it.  Not even if it means saving their friend from an embarrassing moment.

It happened to me, my friend giggled, and I asked her why she didn’t warn me about the whole leakage thing.  Want to know what she said?  She told me it was too embarrassing, and she hoped I would read it in a book or something.  REALLY! Okay, so back then I understood because it wasn’t something we talked about but today I see it in a whole new light because I’m educated on the subject.  I now understand that there is nothing wrong with me, I know many other women are dealing with the same thing, and I know we would all be a little more educated and better off if we talked about light bladder leakage!

A whole lot of embarrassing moment and education is what finally helped me size my Poise moment!

Myths About Light Bladder LeakageLight Bladder Leakage Myths

To start the conversation today I’m going share a few myths about light bladder leakage.

Starting and stopping urine flow helps to build better bladder muscles

WRONG, stopping the flow of urine can cause an overactive bladder.

I don’t have to worry about bladder leakage until I’m older

I wish this were true, but sadly it is not, especially if you are planning to have children.  Just an FYI, from experience, be ready for a little leakage.  Hopefully, it doesn’t happen to you, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

If I do Kegels, I won’t have to worry bout leakage when I get older

Kegels help makes the pelvic floor muscles stronger and can decrease the risk of bladder leakage, but it’s not guaranteed to be enough to control the problem.

I can’t talk to anyone about my problem because nobody understands

There is no reason to be embarrassed about leakage many more women are dealing with it than you may realize.  Which is why it’s so important to start the conversation, it’s not a subject we should be embarrassed to talk about.  As a matter of fact, did you know that 1 in 3 women experience light bladder leakage?  These common little leaks can be triggered by all sorts of things such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, and exercise.  And, if you think you are too young to be experiencing light bladder leakage, think again.  Many women also experience light bladder leakage during and after pregnancy.  It’s much more common than many people realize and something as simple as Poise pads can help you feel comfortable and confident.

I like the way Brooke Burke-Charvet says it in the below video – Light bladder leakage is part of being women.

I can use a period pad for light bladder leakage

I guess, technically you can do whatever you want, but why use a period pad when there is a product that is made for light bladder leakage?

Even though there are products out there like Poise – specifically designed to help protect women from light bladder leakage – many are still turning to period pads for protection. However, period pads are not designed for light bladder leakage.  Yet another reason we need to be talking about light bladder leakage.

To help raise awareness Poise has teamed with Brooke Burke-Charvet!  Together they hope to educate women about light bladder leakage and hopefully empower them to seize their Poise moment. Which is that exact point when you stop letting leaks interrupt your life and reach for a product like Poise Thin Shape Light Absorbency pads that are designed for your personal needs.

Thin Shape Light Absorbency are designed to move with your body thanks to the Thin-Flex Technology  and provides 3-in1 protection for dryness comfort as well as odor control and leak block sides.  Poise Thin Shape Light Absorbency pads are designed to move with your body.  Plus, they are three times drier than leading period pads and  40% thinner than the original Poise brand pads.
