As you may know traveling with kids is never an easy task but road trips. Well, that’s a whole other story if you have a long drive ahead of you. Then again, an hour is torture for a child. Here are a few tips to help make your family road trip a little easier for you to handle.
Tips For A Road Trip Adventure With Kids
Plan – I stink at planning, but I make it happen if the kids are coming along. I plan stops along the way so the kids can get out and stretch, maybe even stay somewhere in between for a day of fun. It helps them deal with being in the car better if we can stop and let them get some energy out.
Games – Have a list of games ready for when the kids get board. We like to play “I Spy With My Little Eye” and the license plate game, but there are tons to choose from.
Comfy Stuff – Dont’ forget a pillow and blankets so the kids can sleep when they get sleepy. Trust me you do not want to be in the car with a sleepy child that’s cranky! I’d rather walk lol.
Bring fun stuff – Books, tablets, coloring books, toys, and anything else that you can get away with bringing. I try to focus on the things the kids enjoy playing with that doesn’t take up too much room.
Snacks – Don’t forget the fun snacks! The last thing you want to do is buy all the darn snacks from the store; you’ll spend a small fortune. I always make granola or peanut butter balls for the kids. Okay, and me! It’s a great treat.]
Drinks – Leave room for a small cooler and pop something tasty inside. Fruit Shoot® is an excellent choice, especially if you’re on-the-go like we tend during the spring and summer months. Plus it adds to the excitement of the trip. You know the kids are out of school, and you load up to do something special and BAM you toss the kids a Fruit Shoot® for the ride. I think it’s safe to say most kids will be super excited, but then again adventure can happen anywhere at anytime.
I want my children to have adventures, it’s an important part of being a child, especially now that we have all this technolg9y in our faces 24 hours a day. Let the kids grab a Fruit Shoot® and head outside for a day of adventure.
