Hair Care Hideaway

Spring is just around the corner and I think we all know what that means. Nope, not the Easter Bunny just yet, it’s time to get started on our Spring Cleaning. We have to get ready to sort through all our things, toss the items we don’t need, organize the ones we keep and remember that if we use it, we have to put it away. It seems simple enough doesn’t it? In a perfect world, it would be, but if you are anything like me there is far too much going on in my household to keep it that easy. Luckily, there is a new product that has been a blessing in our home; The Hair Care Hideaway helps to organize and add storage where we need it. Here are other tips to help you tidy up your bathroom counter!

I live with my sister, her husband and their four children. I’m lucky enough to have my own room, but I get the luxury of sharing a bathroom with three of my nieces, ages 4-16. It is quite an adventure, let me tell you. But I am bound and determined to whip these girls into shape and tidy up our bathroom. There are some steps I took to get the bathroom in order and to keep them in order. Here are some tips that helped me and my nieces to turn our bathroom into an organized and pleasant place to be.

1.) The first step in getting rid of some of the clutter in any room, especially the bathroom, is to get rid of anything that isn’t being used. I’m guilty of holding on to some hair care products that didn’t perform like they promised, but because I paid a pretty penny for them I just couldn’t part.

Or that curling iron that you have to guard your thumb because the plastic cover broke up. How about bazillion tubes of mascara that still have “just enough” that we hang on to them? These are the things that we have to toss into the garbage, or if they are still in good condition, re-gift them and let someone else try to find a use for them. Sorting through all the things in the bathroom and clearing out the old and useless leaves behind the necessities that will be utilized AND opens up much-needed space.

2.) Okay, so we have downsized the hoarder-like catastrophe into something more manageable. What now? We need to sort through them and organize them into like piles. Hair pins, clips and ties in one group, nail files, polishes, and clippers in another, and so on and so on. Once each pile is grouped by purpose and use we can now use one tip that, for me and my nieces, is a huge space and time saver.

Using small plastic cubbies or baskets, we can put each group in its own place and keep them organized and out of the way from the bathroom sink. Like I said before it seems simple enough, right? With some effort and teamwork from my nieces, it actually went pretty smoothly.

3.) Now we have our appropriately separated groups of items neatly set in their cubby, where do we put them? This is when I was so thankful to find the innovative, useful and easy to install Hair Care Hideaway. It is a DIY cabinet, similar to a typical medicine, but with so many more advantages. The Hair Care Hideaway easily installs into the space of a medicine cabinet with one of the kind cord manageability within the wall, as well as an outlet inside the cabinet itself. The cords are weighted down within a tube installed inside the wall, and rolls in and out with ease and keeps the cord out of the way when not in use.

It is designed to fit 2-3 typical hair appliances or electric shavers and electric toothbrushes. Along with space for the appliances, there is still room for shelves and storage of other items like our little cubbies and baskets. It has a swinging mirror door and the shelves and placement hooks can be easily moved and relocated to organize the Hideaway to fit your space needs. Since it is the size of a typical medicine cabinet, there is often no need to cut into the wall and is perfect for apartment dwellers and those with limited bathroom space, i.e. me and my nieces.

Organized Hair Care Hideaway

The eldest of my nieces is 16 and her and I both use many of the same products, so instead of having to borrow from each other or having too many items hanging around, we can put them in the Hair Care Hideaway. Another advantage of installing the Hair Care Hideaway is the fact that I was able to place it high enough for her and I to use it, yet out of reach of the younger girls. This is a huge benefit in the case that medication or other toxic items may be stored in there. The options really are endless and the benefits innumerable. I highly recommend the Hair Care Hideaway for any small or large bathroom or even a bedroom to help add some more space and the extra mirror and outlet.

4.) Now that we have sorted through all the items in the bathroom, thrown out the unwanted and unnecessary, organized them into appropriate groups and finally stored them in the Hair Care Hideaway it is time for the next step. The most important tip that I try to emphasize with my nieces is that if it gets used it HAS to be put away. When a room like the bathroom that is used daily and all the time, keeping things in order and put away when not in use is essential in keeping it organized. When things are continually left out they are in the way, can get lost or even get ruined due to water damage or any other odd thing. This is why I feel it is so important to follow this rule: If you use it, You put it away! Even if You don’t use it, put it away anyway! It’s something I have to emphasize, but my nieces are catching on and coming along nicely!
