8 Things To See and Do In Colorado

by Jenn Brockman

If you’re looking for things to do in Colorado, you are in luck because there are plenty of things to see and do in Colorado, especially if you enjoy mountains and the perfect summer weather.  However, it might be a place you avoid during the winter unless you enjoy the snow or are looking for an awesome place to taking the family skiing.

8 Things To See and Do In Colorado

downtown denver colorado

Colorado is one of my favorite places to visit because there is so much to see and do there.  Here are 8 of my favorite things to do in Colorado, but don’t think the lists stops here. Downtown Denver

Things To Do In Colorado

If you’ve yet to visit Denver, be sure to swing by and check out Downtown Denver.  There is plenty to see, places to eat, and as well as things to do.  Oh, and don’t forget about shopping while your are visiting Downtown Denver Colorado State Capitol

Did you know you can stand 5,280 above sea level, which is exactly one mile above sea level on the 13th step of the Colorado State Capitol?  The State Capitol building is beautiful and worth stopping if you are in the area.

Denver Zoo

rocky mountains

OMG, talk about an awesome zoo!  If you haven’t had a chance to swing by the Denver Zoo, it’s one of the most popular in America for good reasons.  Rocky Mountain National Park

Don’t go through Colorado without stopping by their #1 attraction!  The Rock Mountain National Park is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places on earth.  From snowcapped mountains, waterfalls, lakes, to Estes Park the Rocky Mountains are decently worth visiting.

Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum

garden of the gods in colorado

I haven’t been here in several years, but we’ll be visiting again in September when we head to Durango to visit my aunt.  It’s my understanding that it’s still as breathtaking as it was several years ago.  Be sure to take a ride on the train, I doubt you’ll be disappointed. Garden of the Gods

If you are ever in the Colorado Springs area be sure to check out the Garden of the Gods Park as it covers more than 1,400 acres and is a beautiful National Landmark.

Maroon Bells

things to see and do in colorado

The peaks of Maroon Bells are one of the most photographed peaks in North America for a reason; it’s beautiful.  There is a beautiful lake, amazing wildflowers, and the peaks are 14,000 feet. Royal Gorge Bridge Last month was my first time visiting the Royal Gorge Bridge and WOW, it’s breathtaking.  The bridge was completed in 1929 and is still a world wonder.  It’s 1,270 feet in length and will support two million pounds.  Did I mention that it’s made out of 1,000 tons of steel and is 150 feet high?  Recently a place to spend the day with the family.  From breathtaking views, a mini train ride, an impressive sky coaster, zip line, and gondola to a children’s playland and waterclock there is plenty to do and see at the Royal Gorge Bridge.

Don’t forget your camera, it’s the perfect place for any photography lover to get some great shots.

If I am provided the choice, it’s going to road trip!  I’d rather drive and see the sights than fly and miss them.  We recently took a week and went on a road trip to South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Colorado, and I’m sure there were a few more states, lol.  It was a quick trip; we only had seven days, but we had a blast.  It was just the two of us and was such a healthy trip for our marriage.

Great Colorado treats to indulge.. but one of my favorites is the Colorado River. Experiences are incredible. You can choose your thrill level and create a life-long memory that is more than likely the beginning of perhaps a new hobby. Love Colorado!

I’ve always wanted to visit Denver, Colorado…but, haven’t had the chance! Everything you described looks awesome! The Royal Gorge Bridge looks beautiful, but you couldn’t get me on it! I have a fear of bridges! Especially, the height of it!
