Go RVing to Yellowstone National Park | Vote for a chance at $500 gift card

by Jenn

I’m super excited to share this post with you.  Be sure to go to the very end of this post and Vote for Jenns Blah Blah Blog you’ll have a chance at winning $500 from GoRVing.  Yepie, it’s awesome right!  It’s so hard to think about one place I want to go RVing more than any other place. Truth be told I am not a picky person, as long as I am with my family, and everyone is safe we could be pitching a tent in the backyard and you’ll never hear me sigh or complain because at the end of the day that is what it’s about, building memories with our loved ones. I’ve had issues with my children growing up; I don’t want them to, like at all!

There is not a lot I can do about them growing up but do my best to give them a happy and healthy childhood. I want them to look back on their childhood, know they have great memories and have memories they can go back to. I still go back to my childhood every now and again; I had an awesome time and the best parents ever. I also remember my first family vacation, my brother was itty bitty, and my mom forgot him at my aunt’s house, lol. I loved family vacations as a child, and I know my kids enjoy them too.

However, until recently traveling as a family was STRESSFUL, the kids were uncomfortable and complained all the time. I felt bad for them and felt like a bad parent because I didn’t have a way to make traveling fun for them like it was for us. Until Shawn and I started talking about purchasing an RV, which was one of the best investments we have made for our family. Having an RV for family vacations has made things more affordable (less stress on mom and dad) and MUCH more comfortable for the kids because we don’t have everything smashed in the car.

Go RVing to Yellowstone National Park

I was asked about my dream RV vacation, and I didn’t know what to say because my dream RV vacation would be taking a few weeks and just going. I love just driving, and stopping somewhere because it looks cool, or we found something we wanted to do on Google. It’s been my experience they are the most fun and least stressful trips. They are also great to do with your spouse out of the blue; it makes you feel young again.

Since just driving doesn’t qualify as my dream RV vacation destination, I decided to go with what I know will be a fun route mostly on side roads to (Wyoming), Glacier Park (Montana) and RV at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resorts (Montana).

We’re a very outdoorsy family and all the kids are old enough to appreciate a trip to the world’s first national park with more than 2,219,798 acres (bigger than Delaware and Rhode Island combined) to explore, Yellowstone National Park.

Roads Less Traveled from New Mexico through Colorado

So here is the plan, we’ll leave New Mexico headed for the beautiful state of Colorado and jump on the back roads along the way. The roads are less busy; the view is better and less stressful. It shouldn’t take too long and we’ll be under the Wide Open Skies of Wyoming, next stop Yellowstone National Park.. I am SUPER pumped about this family vacation, I have to remind myself I’m not really planning the vacation, it’s my DREAM RV VACATION!

Yellowstone National Park is in the northwest corner of the beautiful state of Wyoming and even includes small areas of Idaho and Montana (where we’re going next). There are so many reasons I want to take my family to Yellowstone National Park; it was hard, but I found a few of the many things I want to do while we’re here. As I said, it was HARD to narrow down the list; there are so many great things!

  • Gran Prismatic Spring – There is no way I could visit Yellowstone and not stop for a peek at this beauty.
  • The wildlife – I love animals of all shapes and sizes. I am going to bet the early mountain hours are a great time to see some of the wildlife. Regardless of how much you like wildlife and feel like you are in tune with things, be sure to check with the visitor for information on the wildlife. Yellowstone has a variety of wildlife and it’s important for us to remember, THEY ARE WILD and easily frightened. It’s best for you and the animals if you admire from a distance and know the wildlife rules because one wrong move with the wrong animal can end badly. The rules are in place to not only protect you from injury but protect the wildlife as well.
  • Waterfalls – When I was 7 or 8 years old a book I borrowed from the library had a picture of an amazing Yellowstone Waterfall, and I have wanted to see it in life since them. Since I still haven’t seen it I now have a second, third and fourth waterfall I want to see, but ONLY after I see the Lower Falls. The Lower Falls are the largest waterfall at Yellowstone and of course it’s the most famous. It’s simple mind-blowing to think about a waterfall that is over 300 feet tall. Okay, so one more waterfall that I want to see is the Tower Fall, which is over 130 feet tall. To think the entire waterfall is encased in ice during the winter months. Don’t you worry there are plenty more waterfalls to check out at Yellowstone like Gibbon Falls, Kepler Cascades, Undine Falls, Osprey Falls, and Upper Falls?
  • Rafting – OMG how does rafting on the Yellowstone, Gallatin, or the Madison river sound?
  • Zipline – Ziplining is always fun and such a great way to see the world around you.
  • Zip & Dip – Who doesn’t want to zip and dip?
  • Horseback Riding – I love riding horses and even though I wouldn’t be on my horse I would love to spend a few hours on horseback enjoying the beautiful wilderness around me. If I can do something on horseback, you can bet your left toe you’ll find me on the back of that horse.
  • Tours – There are tons of different tours you can go on so be sure and check them out.

Something I’ve learned is that it’s okay to have things left on your list when you leave, because you have a reason to come back!

Wave bye-bye to Yellowstone National Park and the Big Open Skies of Wyoming and get ready to say hello to the beautiful Glacier Park and Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resorts in Missoula, Montana.

Hello Glacier Park and Jellystone of Missoula Montana

Another place we would like to go would be Glacier Park where we will park the RV at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resorts a totally rocking franchise network of campgrounds where the focus is on family vacation We have stayed at Jellystone a few other times in different states and every single time has been a great experience for the family, I don’t expect that Montana’s would be any different.

We’re a family that enjoys the great outdoors, amazing wildlife, and soaking up the history of places like the Glacier National Park. Did you know that the Glacier Park has a history dating back more than 10,000 years? It’s said that the Kootenai and Salish Indians lived in the western valleys, and the Blackfeet Indians roamed the prairies eat of the mountains.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resorts is rated in the top 50 Parks in the US by Trailer Life Directory (2005) which isn’t a big surprise to me, because it’s located in the beautiful state of Montana. I can already tell you my family will be busy doing things outside, seeing the sites, and soaking up the sun and breathing the fresh country air. The kids are always worn out when we leave Jellystone, which makes things more quite than I like, lol.

Bye Glacier Park and Jellystone Park! Finally, it’s time to take the long way home & it’s going to be AWESOME!

Now for the trip home, we’re going to take a small detour so we can see a few things we’ve wanted to take the kids to see.

Montana to Idaho, Utah and then New Mexico. We want to stop by Dinosaur National Monument on the Utah and Colorado border, and head for the Grand Canyon on the Utah and Arizona border. We would then end up back in sweet southern New Mexico. The trip back is a little out-of-the-way, but for everything we get to experience it will be worth it. Our kids are only young once and we only have one life to live why not see and do as much as we can, especially since we can thanks to RV traveling.
