The holidays are creeping up on us, and it’s time to start thinking about those holiday travel plans. The holidays are stressful enough, adding travel plans to the mix can almost be overwhelming especially because the holidays can be so expensive. Here are a few tips to help you save money while traveling this holiday season.
Tips To Help You Save Money On Family Holiday Travels
Plan
The sooner you begin planning the better. Everything starts with a plan, figure out the dates you’ll be going, how long you’ll be staying, traveling etc.
Create a budget
Once you stat planning your holiday travels be sure to sit down and create budget, include things like cost of gas, meals, snacks, and things you’ll be purchasing before and during your travels.
Make a list
Another helpful tip is to create a list a few weeks before you leave that way you can add to the list when you think of something. By remembering to bring along all your families travel essentials you’ll save money because you won’t have to purchase it along the way.
Pack your kids bags or at least do a check
If you do not pack your kids bags be sure to give it a double take. My kids are known for leaving out socks, toothbrushes and small things like that and overpacking toys and things to play with on the road, lol. I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same thing if I was them so I just make sure they have everything in their bags before we leave.
GPS
I don’t know what I would do without GPS, not only does it help save you time but money. I don’t know about you but I would get lost without it. If you don’t have GPS make sure to purchase a msap before leaving if you don’t already know your way.
Make some good for you snacks that are travel friendly
My kids love it when I make for the road Peanut Butter and Jelly Protein Balls. They are awesome and such a better option because they are healthier than chips and other junk, and really hit the spot.
Plus, you can make these yummy peanut butter balls using Gold Emblem Abound products from your local CVS, not to mention that they are great for traveling.
Buy healthy snacks before you leave
This is probably one of the biggest money saves because stopping at convenience stores can get expensive especially when you are traveling with children. I personally cannot afford to stop and buy snacks and meals along the way, especially during the holiday season which is why I normally make a quick stop at my local CVS before we head out. I also do my best to stay focused on healthy foods because this time of year we all have enough junk food and it helps me avoid having kids with tummy aches along the way.
