Brain Chase & 6 Reasons My Kid Is Pumped About Learning

by Jenn

I don’t know about you, but I am excited it’s summer, and my daughter is thrilled to start her online adventure with Brain Chase.  Vayda has been talking Brain Chase for about two months and recently started making daily trips to the mailbox.  I let her know it would be a bit before her items from Brain Chase arrived, but she’s not going to listen to me, lol.

Before school was out she told her teacher so much about it, her teacher called me to see what program Vayda enrolled in for the summer.  Of course, I took her a flyer down because it’s a great way for parents to help their children with summer learning and teachers can even earn a little extra money for every child they refer.  It’s an AWESOME way for schools to earn a little extra money for the upcoming school year.

Since my daughter is so excited about starting Brain Chase on June 22, I decided to ask her why she was so excited about starting.  I was a little surprised by her answers, I guess I expected short responses – fun, something to do, treasure, etc.  However, she gave me a few awesome reasons she’s excited to start Brain Chase.

  • Summer Learning – I’m so proud of my daughter for recognizing how important summer learning is for children.  She started out last year poorly, and kicked it into gear a few months before school was over and barely made it through 4th grade, but she has a different outlook on school and actually wants to give 100% next year.  She knows Brain Chase can help her start the year off better, and she said that she will have a better attitude about school if she doesn’t fall behind.
  • Scholarship – WHAT, and yes my daughter said the word scholarship. I honestly didn’t even realize she was listening when I told her there was a $10,000 scholarship rewarded to the winner.
  • Flexible – Okay, she didn’t say the word flexible.  However, she did tell me she was glad she could be part of the Brain Chase program and still visit her grandmother for two weeks as well as go with the family on our summer outings.
  • Can spend time on Brain Chase while we travel – We always road trip it as a family and Vayda likes that she can pull out her tablet and complete curriculum on Brain Chase.  She says it’s better than listening to her sister sing lol.
  • Excited to try and find the treasure – Vayda looks forward to receiving clues and completing assignments so she can try and guess where the buried treasure is located.  Oh, yes that’s the neat thing about Brain Chase is the kids are chasing something real, and whoever finds it wins a trip to go and dig it up.  How awesome is that?  Vayda’s always been a problem solver so I can defiantly see her getting a kick out of trying to use the clues to find the treasure.  How awesome is that?  Vayda’s always been a problem solver so I can defiantly see her getting a kick out of trying to use the clues to find the treasure.
  • Watch the Brain Chase episodes – I showed Vayda a few YouTube videos about Brain Chase and she fell in love with the Brain Chase episodes.  She’s been excited to start watching them because it’s new, adventurous, and they can help her find clues to find the buried treasure.  She already knows their names and Mae Merriweather is her favorite character, but that will likely change five or six times lol.

I am pretty proud of my daughter for her responses; she’s stepped up her game, and I’m excited to see her want to continue her summer learning.

SandstoneHowever, there is one thing she said she doesn’t like about Brain Chase and it’s a serious one, according to her.  However, I don’t know that Brain Chase is to blame for this one.  Well, I know she isn’t blaming Brain Chase.

  • The wait – Really this was more my fault, and she even said so.  I think it went something like, “Mom, seriously why did you tell me about this so long ago.  You know I hate waiting.  You do this to me on purpose, because you know how hard it is for me to wait for things.”

Okay, so she is partly right.  With things like gifts, I do tell her I have something for her, but she can’t have it until her birthday, lol.  I know, I’m a horrible parent, but my mom did it to me, and I lived.  I can even look back and giggle about it, but I didn’t tell her about Brain Chase because I knew she was going to have a hard time waiting, but try telling her that.  I guess, it’s kind of like the boy who cried wolf.  Maybe, I shouldn’t pick on my kids so much, lol.  Oh, who am I kidding, they love being picked on by mom.

Regardless we are both thrilled about Brain Chase and waiting on the edge of our set for June 22 to roll around.  Which means you still have plenty of time to join the adventure with Brain Chase.

It’s not too late to register with Brain Chase, the adventure starts on June 22 and will last for five weeks.  The program is geared toward 2nd to 8th graders, and there is a prize worth chasing, which is powered by math, reading and writing.  Yes, if kids want to move forward with Brain Chase they’re going to have to complete their weekly assignments and watch the video.
